Effect of geometry and hydraulic parameters on the bed morphology in a confluence using numerical approach

Abstract The confluence of rivers is an important phenomenon that really vital for irrigation and water transmission networks. Investigation on bed morphology at the junction two streams great importance. Flow complexity confluences, as well being risks rising levels flooding, interfering with use bridges, filling inlets ponds reducing efficiency transport are resulted by this phenomenon. purpose research to investigate effect geometric hydraulic parameters, such angle, width ratio intersected canals, Froude number intersection, using SSIIM2. Validation results numerical model in terms parameters indicated good correlations coefficients 0.9 0.68, respectively. In next step, intersection angle (45, 60, 75, 90 105 degrees) scour depth was investigated. By decreasing from 105° 45°, maximum reduced about 96% hole dimensions were smaller moved toward shore.
